Pinterest is now the number three most-popular social network in the U.S., behind Facebook and Twitter, according to Experian Hitwise. A new report from the researcher shows Pinterest got 21.5 million visits during the week ending Jan. 28, a nearly 30-fold increase over a comparable week in Ju…

I believe Pinterest’s simplicity and image-dominant format would continue to to be popular among early adopters of social media.  However, without other fringe functions like private message and chat, its popularity could be limited in the long run.  Pinterest would be a cyber place where like-minded people meet as a community to share knowledge and exchange valuable information.

KONY 2012: Is the Viral Campaign a Scam?

KONY 2012: Is the Viral Campaign a Scam?
KONY 2012, a documentary produced by non-profit Invisible Children, has gone viral in the past couple days, receiving millions of views on YouTube and Vimeo. The video has also, however, begun to receive significant backlash from organizations and publications questioning the authenticity of …

Visible Children, a Tumblr dedicated to evaluating the legitimacy of the KONY 2012 campaign, raised some points Wednesday morning which have resurfaced in numerous publications.

This is far from ideal, and Charity Navigator rates their accountability 2/4 stars because they haven’t had their finances externally audited. But it goes way deeper than that.”

For those out there who don’t see how Pinterest could benefit their business, here’s Bepko’s brief explanation: “It allows us to curate images from across the web that really speak to who we are as a company, images that reflect our core values and essentially communicate the essence of who we are.”

I think it’s a really user-friendly platform to share info with like-minded individuals.  Brands can ultimately utilize Pinterest to convert followers into potential customers.  Again, the keywords are “simplicity” and “engagement” like Twitter and Tumblr.  Blog is out, simplified platforms are in!
